Technology risk, including data privacy and security ranked highest in our 2022 materiality assessment. This is natural as most of our companies are fast-growing SaaS solutions and will early need to consider protecting data and systems, respecting privacy rights and ensuring systems and services can weather disruption.

During the fall of 2023, we offered portfolio-wide guidance based on 2 levels:

• Level 1: Getting started on the technology risk journey (don’t currently have a dedicated person for this area or hold any certifications)
• Level 2: Hired a security manager appointed a data protection officer, or earned a certification like Cyberessebntials or ISO, but you could use some advice on reaching the next stage of maturity.

We summarised some of these learnings for others to build off below and added a check list that can be helpful for early stage companies. Finally - we address the major field of potential digital revenue loss by collaborating with our portfolio company Red Points!
